What Would You Say?Posted on March 5th, 2013.
If you could preach one message, what would it be?
You have one opportunity—one chance to stand on a platform that reaches the entire world.
All of humanity is standing before you engaged and listening. They’re looking at you, leaning in for an impartation.
What would you tell them?
I know what I would say.
I would begin by describing God in detail; I would tell of His enduring faithfulness, overwhelming love and all-consuming passion. I would preach the message of Jesus.
And then, I would ask if they know Him.
Not if they know about Him, but if they really know Him.
“Have you heard Him speak your name, felt His touch, seen His eyes? Have you been filled with grace and peace in the midst of chaos? Has His countenance made you shine in the midst of a storm? Have you had a personal, undeniable encounter with God?”
The knowledge of God—that’s the message I would shout from the rooftops.
Yet, I’ll never stand on that platform. I’ll never have every ear in the world and neither will you.
But, I will have my neighbor: the cashier at the store, the teen pumping gas next to me, the teller at the bank, the waitress in the restaurant and hundreds of others.
The disciples evangelized the whole known world, yet had nothing more than their own voice, two feet and unquenchable passion.
Don’t wait for the big opportunity to witness the way you’ve dreamed about it. Start with the person right in front of you.
Think about it.
What would you say?
